The rehabilitation of a five span underpass structure over Highway 401 in the City of Mississauga.
Wills was retained by the Ministry to provide detail design services for this initial rehabilitation of the Kennedy Road Underpass.
Work included patch, waterproof, paving of the deck, expansion joint replacement with ballast wall and approach slab reconstruction, partial barrier wall reconstruction, installation of new aluminum railings for bicycle traffic, jacking of superstructure for bearing repairs.
A three-stage approach to traffic staging for construction was developed in order to ensure a single lane of traffic in each direction was open on Kennedy Road at all times. Utility liaison was critical to the project schedule to ensure temporary and permanent relocations of electrical and fibre optic infrastructure was completed prior to tendering.
